Portrait of Mahnoor Zia

Hello!

I’m Mahnoor Zia — a graphic design student and creative thinker guided by curiosity, emotion, and observation of human experience. I work between structure and experimentation, shaping ideas through visual storytelling, branding, and conceptual design. Alongside my academic journey, I’ve been working on personal projects including a mental wellness app and a leather bags brand, exploring how ideas can move between digital systems and physical form. I’ve always believed art and design are deeply connected to how we feel and understand the world, and I aim to create work that carries emotion, meaning, and quiet impact.

Concept

The Static Motion

Static Motion is a conceptual typographic poster series exploring the psychological feeling of being trapped in repetitive cycles while constantly appearing to move forward. The project questions whether modern productivity culture creates real growth or simply the illusion of progress.

  • Poster reading “You are moving but are you going anywhere?”
  • Poster reading “Is it progress or just repetition?”
  • Poster reading “You’re progressing or just performing?”
  • Poster reading “You are running but towards what?”
  • Poster reading “Moving in circles but is it forward?”
  • Poster of a figure rising with a red balloon, captioned “Hold it, don’t let it hold you”

This poster explores the ambiguity between control and surrender in ambition.

  • Poster reading “We become what once broke us”

This poster explores the concept of inherited trauma and how emotional patterns are unconsciously passed down through generations. The visual contrast represents the cycle of trauma repetition, urging the viewer to recognize these patterns in order to break them.

YOU Instagram profile

This project was collaboratively developed by my friend and me, where I designed the brand identity, user experience, and interface system while he handled the development of the application.

“You” reflects my passion for combining design with emotion to create digital experiences that feel human, supportive, and emotionally meaningful.

While the platform is still evolving and undergoing further refinements, our goal is to continue growing it into Pakistan’s first dedicated mental health support app focused on healing, connection, and emotional awareness.

Painting & drawing

Fine Arts

Work made by hand — oil and acrylic on canvas, watercolour, coloured pencil, and graphite. Observation studies alongside pieces that carry the same themes as the conceptual work: control, inheritance, and the quiet weight of everyday things.
